Regionless Accounts - League of Legends

Where is the region selector?

Over the past few months, we’ve been transitioning all players from League of Legends accounts to Riot Accounts. Now that most players have made the transition, we’re going to be taking the next step towards enabling Riot’s long-term capabilities towards supporting multiple games: removing the region selector from the login screen.

So wait… How do I know what region I’m in?

Due to the regional layout of League of Legends (which is different from, say, Legends of Runeterra), you may be wondering where to see what region you’re in. If you click the cog on the bottom right-hand corner of the login screen, your region will be displayed there!

Will I still be able to play League of Legends in other regions?

Of course! Because your Riot Account is now globally unique, and each account is linked to a specific League of Legends region, you’ll just need to log in on the account associated with that region to play there. Let's say you had three accounts. Your main is named “RiotTest,” and you've updated the other two to be “RiotTestPBE” and “RiotTestEUW.” You’ll just log in on those accounts to play in those regions.

Remember, if you want to play on your primary account in another region, you’ll need to Transfer your account. You can learn more about this here.

Does this mean I can play with friends in other League of Legends regions?

While you can chat with players on other servers, and in other Riot games, you can still only play League of Legends with players in the same region as you. If you wish to Transfer your account, say due to work or moving to a new region, you can do so! Click here to learn more.

What if my account still needs to be upgraded to a Riot Account?

If you haven’t yet updated to a Riot Account, you’ll get an error message when you try to sign in and will not be able to get past the login screen. It will look the same as if you typed in the wrong name or password -- you won’t even get to the game screen. At this point you’ll need to head over to the account update website before you can play.

How can I see what languages are supported in my region in-client?

You can view all languages available in your region on the login screen. Just click the cog symbol on the bottom right and select the language from the list provided!
