Setting up your Permissions

League of Legends requires administrative privileges to install and run correctly. There are several fixes for this problem which are described below.

  • Update Windows

To make sure your version of Windows is up-to-date, search for "Windows Update" in the Start menu and run the program.

    Disable UAC

    • Type “UAC” into your Windows taskbar
    • Select “Change User Account Control settings”
    • Select the “Never notify” option in the UAC settings box
    • Click “OK”

Run the Riot Client as an Administrator

    • Right click on the Riot Client shortcut
    • Select Properties
    • Check the box labelled "Run as Administrator" under the Compatibility tab
Please Note: Changing the permissions for the executables of individual games may result in an error! Only do this for the Riot Client.

Check your Hard Drive for errors

Occasionally, these problems can be caused by a corrupt disk fragment. To check for corruption, run a Scandisk on the drive:

Reinstalling the game as an Administrator:

If all else fails you may need to re-install the game with administrative rights using this guide:

Once you've uninstalled the game, right-click the installer and select "Run as Administrator."
