Updated Client Performance Issues - Multiple Graphics Cards on Windows

Some computers have multiple graphics cards to choose from. This guide will help you prioritize your strongest graphics card when playing League. Integrated graphics uses your system RAM instead of dedicated graphics memory, which makes it slower but less power-intensive. Dedicated graphics uses your graphics card in all of its glory. You want to be using dedicated graphics for the updated client.

Select your graphics card


Intel

  1. Expand your Task Tray by clicking the "^" button on your taskbar.
  2. Right-click the Intel HD Graphics icon ()
  3. Click on "Intel Graphics Settings".
  4. Go to "Power".
  5. Select "Maximum Performance".
  6. Click on the Home button.
  7. Go to "3D".
  8. Go to "Global Settings".
  9. Click "Enable".
  10. Click "Apply".


AMD Radeon

  1. Expand your Task Tray by clicking the "^" button on your taskbar
  2. Right-click the Radeon icon ()
  3. Click on "Open Radeon Settings".
  4. Click on "Preferences".
  5. Click on "Radeon Additional Settings".
  6. Find League of Legends.exe and change "Graphic Setting" to "High performance".
  7. Click "Apply".


NVIDIA GeForce

  1. Expand your Task Tray by clicking the "^" button on your taskbar.
  2. Right-click the NVIDIA icon.
  3. Click on "Open NVIDIA Control Panel".
  4. Go to "Manage 3D settings".
  5. Select or Add LeagueClient.exe and League of Legends.exe

    You can find the League of Legends.exe under your Riot Games folder - \Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\projects\lol_game_client\releases\<highest number folder>\deploy\League of Legends.exe. There may be multiple folders in your releases folder - pick the highest number.

    You can find the LeagueClient.exe under your Riot Games folder - \Riot Games\League of Legends\LeagueClient.exe.

  6. For both LeagueClient.exe and League of Legends.exe, under "Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:", choose "High-performance NVIDIA processor".
  7. Click "Apply".


Using dedicated graphics on Mac

  1. Click on the Apple logo on the top-left corner.
  2. Go to "System Preferences..."
  3. Click on "Energy Saver".
  4. Un-check "Automatic graphics switching".
